Plan an evening of magical words. A poetry slam happens at Hopmonk Tavern on Sunday (2/10) at 8 p.m. It’s led by Jamie DeWolf. Cost is $5 on sliding scale. For more information go to hopmonk.com. Hopmonk is at 230 Petaluma Ave. in Sebastopol.

Teens can get a free Monster Make-Up lesson at the Sebastopol Library on Tuesday (2/12) at 3:30 p.m. It’s all courtesy of Sebastopol Friends of the Library. Register at sebastopollibrary.org/friends.

Occidental Center for the Arts Film Festival continues with a film called “Long Song from Mongolia” on Friday (2/15). There will be hotdogs and popcorn for sale. The tickets are $10 at the door. The center is at 3850 Doris Murphy Court in Occidental. Call 874-9392 for more information.

Sebastopol Center for the Arts is presenting a concert with Laureano Flor and Friends on Friday (2/15) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 – $20 sliding scale. African drummer Okli will be playing at the Bodega Bay Community Center on Friday, Feb. 15 from 6 to 10 p.m. Come and take part in African spirit drumming. Landpaths is holding a docent training at Bohemia Preserve on Bohemian Hwy. near Camp Meeker on Saturday (2/16) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Go to landpaths.org to register and for details.

Landpaths is holding an orientation session at Willow Creek on the Sonoma Coast. The free orietation results in a permit to enter the area. It is on Saturday (2/16) from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Go to landpaths.org to register and meeting spot details.
