Tuesday (12/4) Sebastopol City Council meets at 6 p.m. at 390 Morris St.

Bob Burke’s Kids Christmas Party happens at the Union Hotel in Occidental Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This is a fundraising dinner for seriously ill children. The festivities are by donation, with the food donated by the Union Hotel.

It’s the annual Tree Lighting Party in Sebastopol, Thursday (12/6) from 5 to 8 p.m. Santa will be on hand for the kids, there’s live entertainment for the adults, hot beverages and treats for everyone. It all happens at the downtown plaza on McKinley St.

Sebastopol Art Center is holding its Grand Opening celebration Friday (12/7) from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 282 S. High Street Tickets are $20 advance ,$25 on December 7. Tickets available to purchase at brownpapertickets.com It features the opening of the 2012 Members Show, a ceramics sale, live and silent auctions; hors d’ouevres, fine wines, and music by Batacha.

Friday (12/7) is First Friday Live night at Sebastopol Community Cultural Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with music at 7p.m, Lagunitas beer, wine and refreshments available for purchase as well as, Barbeque Smokehouse Bistro food. A Real Music Volume II release party and fund-raiser for the Redwood Empire Food Bank will take place at 7 p.m featuring bands from CD compilations, including a rock ‘n roll dance party and a singer-songwriter circle for acoustic lovers. Cost is $10 and a can of food for the food bank. The center is at 390 Morris St.

Saturday (12/8) come have a free breakfast at Palm Drive Hospital from 8 to 11 a.m.. It is the annual Thank You to the Community breakfast with Santa. There will pancakes, eggs and fixings along with coffee, milk and juice. Bring the kids. It’s in the conference room at 501 Petaluma Ave. in Sebastopol.

Saturday and Sunday (12/8 and 9) the Occidental Community Council holds its annual Christmas Crafts Faire at the Occidental YMCA building. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day there will be local crafts for sale. There will be music, entertsainment and delicious foods. Admission is free. Yje YMCA is on Bohemian Highway across from Harmony Village.

Saturday (12/8) at 3 p.m. it’s time to get those pipes working with Sebastopol’s own Sing Along Messiah at the United Methodist Church at 500 N. Main St. Sponsored by the Sebastopol Center for the Arts it is a big family favorite. Tickets are $6 or $15 for a family of four. Go to sebarts.org for more information.

On Sunday (10/9) Nick’s Cove Restaurant in Marshall on Tomales Bay is holding a special Holiday Hat Brunch with movie critic Jan Wahl, famous for her wild chapeaus. It is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear their most festive hat and bring a warm coat to donate to The Ritter Center of San Rafael, Marin’s critical safety net for the homeless and working poor, which will also receive a portion of the brunch proceeds. Attendees who bring a coat to donate will receive a voucher for 20% off of dinner at Nick’s Cove (valid Sunday through Thursday). Tickets for the Holiday Hat Brunch are $55 per person, including food, beverage, tax and gratuity. Call 415- 663-1033 for reservations. Advance reservations are required as space is limited.

The Occidental Community Choir performs at Occidental Center for the Arts on Saturday (12/8) at 8 p.m. and on Sunday (12/9) at 3 p.m. with a children’s sing-along added to the matinee concert. The performance is called “Around This Table”.Admission is $15 general ($13 seniors). Go to occidentalchoir.org to purchase advance tickets and for more information. The center is at 3850 Doris Murphy Court in Occidental.
