Local Find: Such Fine Things
Such Fine Things
3597 Bohemian Highway, Occidental
(415) 515-3361, Facebook.com/SuchFineThings
Overview: This shop looks deceivingly small from the outside, but once inside you discover the little storefront on First Street in Occidental holds a surprisingly large inventory. For the store, local songstress Teresa Tudury has teamed up with Deborah Esarks, who has been in the vintage clothing business for 30 years, including a shop in the Berkeley/Oakland area.
Esarks is also a wearable art artist. She crafts jewelry from vintage components and makes clothing with a decidedly modern cut from vintage lace and crocheted pieces. The shop also takes consignment garments and accessories.
What you’ll find: With consignments constantly coming in, there’s no predicting what will turn up. Sassy fuscia pink high heels, lace vests and the most stylish items from your mom’s or even grandma’s past were there when we visited. Bring in any treasures you might be willing to sell.
One item of note: Lulu in Paris is a wearable art slip complete with a photo of a silent film femme fatale sewn into it. The piece made it into a fashion magazine. Esark’s line of one-of-a-kind garments is called Bohemian Couture.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday
