CERT training begins tonight

Sebastopol Fire Department is offering a chance to become CERT certified with a full CERT course beginning tonight. The course will be each Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. It is four weeks long and prepares attendees to assist competently in the case of a disaster such as an earthquake. It costs $50 and up to 25 students will be accepted. The classes are at the Sebastopol Fire Station. The class schedule is: Sept. 4 Disaster Preparedness (Skip Jirrels & Glenn Schainblatt)
Sept. 5 Fire Safety (Doug Buonaccorsi & Art Trinei), Sept. 11 Light Search & Rescue (Mike Elson & Skip Jirrels), Sept. 12 CERT Organization / Disaster Psychology (Tom Boag / Joe Pogar & Zeke Britton),Sept.  18 Disaster Medical Skills 1 (Shawn-Paul O’Dell), Sept. 19 Disaster Medical Skills 2 (Shawn-Paul O’Dell),
Sept. 25 Law Enforcement / Communications (meet at the Sebastopol Police Department) (Police Chief Jeff Weaver / Janie Frigault, Robert Smith & Tom Boag) Sept. 26 Review and Disaster Simulation (CERT Board & SFD). For more information email admincert@sonic.net.
