Emergency personnel have located the operator of a fishing boat that apparently crashed or ran aground in Bodega Bay overnight and say no one was injured or otherwise lost in the incident.

Sonoma County sheriff’s, Bodega Bay fire and U.S. Coast Guard personnel all scrambled early Friday after a hiker reported seeing floating debris and fuel in the water off Pinnacle Gulch Trail in the Bodega Harbour subdivision, dispatchers said.

A search of the area beginning about 7:20 a.m. turned up substantial debris and the skipper of the boat on shore, who said he was unhurt, fire and Coast Guard personnel said. He reportedly had been the only one on board.

Additional details were not immediately available.—————

  1. On the south-east end of Doran where county parks placed the yellow tape warning, the diesel fumes were overwhelming. I set out to do my marine debris data and trash collection at about noon yesterday and the diesel fuel could be seen along the shore break well beyond the yellow tape marker. The first thought that came to my mind is concern for ‘Waldo’, our ‘resident’ whale that hangs out in the Pinnacle Gulch area. I don’t know how much fuel poured into the seas from this vessel but it certainly can’t be good for the dolphins that I’ve filmed fishing all along this shore. Heartbreaking all the way around . . . happy to hear the skipper of the boat made it to shore and is OK.

  2. Not a lot of information in this story, what happened to the boat?

  3. WAS JOEL HACK ON THE BOAT?
