Wahoo! Fireworks! It happens at the Analy High School football field in Sebastopol thanks to Sebastopol Kiwanis. From 5 to 10 p.m. there will be music, games, relays and prizes.$8 general admission, $4 age 6 to 11, under 6 free.
On Tuesday (7/3) from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sebastopol Senior Center will hold a birthday party for everyone born in July. It’s free and Susanna Crofton will provide the music. If you wish you can come at noon and for a $4 fee have lunch as well. The center is at 267 N. High St. Call 829-2440 for more information.
At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday (7/5) the Sebastopol Grange will bring Julious Piti of Mozambique to speak about conflict resolution and permaculture in solving Africa’s food problems. It is co-sponsored by Daily Acts and Occidental Arts and Ecology Center. $5 – $10 fee goes mostly to his group that funds such work. The Grange Hall is at 6000 Highway 116 in Sebastopol. On Thursday (7/5) the scientific minds of the area will gather at Coffee Catz at 6:30 p.m. to hear Dr. Robert Porter talk about “Reinventing Fire”. $4 gets you an instant education. Coffee Catz is at 6761 Sebastopol Ave., Sebastopol.
On Saturday (7/7) there is a free CERT training on making your neighborhood safer in a disaster by mapping out needs and resources. It’s at 1 p.m. at the Sebastopol Fire Station on Bodega Ave.
The Traveling Fair comes to Sebastopol to give a preview of this year’s county fair with the theme “Cruise On In”. Games, prizes, popcorn, balloons all come to ToyWorks on Sebastopol Ave. between noon and 4 p.m.
Landpaths will take you on a hike to explore the spectacular Jenner Headlands on the Sonoma oast Saturday (7/7) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring a lunch, wear sturdy shoes. Register at landpaths.org to get meeting location. It’s a steep hike.
Studio 391 at Gualala opens an exhibit of Betty Spindler’s whimsical and bright ceramics with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. The gallery is at 39102 Ocean Drive, Gualala.
The Emanjo Buddhist Temple holds the 58th annual Teriyaki Barbecue. Eat there or take out delicious teriyaki chicken dinners or cold lunches. There are games, activities, crafts all day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1200 Gravenstein Highway S.
