Tomales High turning 100 years old

Monday, July 16th, 2012 | Posted by | 2 responses

If kids complain school starts too early now, they should realize in 1912 classes started at Tomales High School August 5. So on that day this year, while classes won’t be starting, there will be a 100th birthday celebration for the venerable institution.

There will be an exhibit of photos from the old school in what is left of the original building which is now the home of Tomales Regional Historical Society from 1 to 5 p.m. It will be very informal and no speakers are planned, but everyone can wax nostalgic over the old photos.

Earlier that day there is a reunion at Tomales Town Park for alumni from the years 1936 through 1949. People can bring a picnic lunch to share at the park and then stroll over to the exhibit. Kathleen O’Brain is organizing the reunion and be reached at 415-883-7877.
