Soldiers Stories to be honored in Occidental
Soldiers throughout history will be remembered and honored at a special performance Friday, May 25. Just in time for Memorial Day, Nell Robinson and Jim Nunally with Soldier Stories Band will perform their combination of new and traditional music at Occidental Center for the Arts. Their performance also includes letters from soldiers to their loved ones from the Revolutionary War to the present. They have just returned from a standing room only crowd at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. PBS is going to be filming their performance for television. The band hopes to raise awareness of veterans’ needs and the human cost of war. The performance is at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15, although no one will be turned away. The center is at 4008 Bohemian Hwy. in Occidental, at Harmony Village (former Harmony School). Call 874-9392 for reservations.
