Community loses Chris Schimpf
Residents of Bodega and Occidental mourned the passing of Christopher Schimpf at his services on April 20. The beloved 41-year-old Occidental native died April 15. He was born April 8, 1971 to Joanne Hopkins and Greg Schimpf. He suffered a stroke last year and was in rehabilitation. He loved fishing, sports and good times with his friends and his family. He was interred at the Druid’s Cemetery in Occidental. He is survived by his parents, his siblings Ryan, Taylor, Casey, Andrea and Kelsey, his stepmother Elizabeth Schimpf, and a host of friends. His father and stepmother owned the business at the Casino in Bodega for five years. They recently relocated to Oregon. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Community Action Partneship of Sonoma County at 1300 Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
