Wednesday (3/21) from 1 to 3 p.m. you can learn to make Japanese Washi eggs from mulberry paper from Barbra Friedman who taught the art to Martha Stewart. It happens at the Patisserie Angelica in Sebastopol and costs $45 which includes what you need to make three eggs. To register call 696-2009 or email: barbrabvf@yahoo.com

Sebastopol Rotary Club is hosting a free light supper at Sebastopol Senior Center Thursday. There will be soup, salad and dessert from 4 to 6 p.m. The center is at 167 N. High St. Call 829-2440 to reserve your soup bowl.

Sebastopol Center for the Arts will hold an art reception to open two art shows “Art of Light” and “Still Scratching” on Thursday (3/22) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The center is at 6780 Depot St. 829-4797 for more information.

Occidental Arts and Ecology Center is holding a tour of its celebrated gardens and wildland at 1 p.m. $10 suggested donation. The OAEC is at 15290 Coleman Valley Rd. in Occidental. www.oaec.org for more information.

Occidental Center for the Arts celebrates Women in the Arts Saturday, March 24. At 4 p.m. Gradina, a folk dancing group will perform and teach Balkan dancing. $5. From 6 to 7 p.m. there will be open mic and food will be on sale. Bodega Volunteer Fire Department is holding a polenta feed with its famous beef stew Saturday (3/24) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. They can provide take-out dinners for those who want to eat at home or while watching a sunset at the coast. Adult dinners are $12 adults, $8 kids. The food will be dished out at McCaughey Hall (the old fire house) on Bodega Highway in the center of town. 876-9438 for more information.

 

The Irish band Dervish is coming to Sebastopol Community Cultural Center Saturday (3/24) at 8 p.m. The band has packed auditoriums from China to Brazil with their Celtic “Eurovision” music. Tickets are $30 for premium seating, $25 advanced sales, $28 at the door. The center is at 390 Morris St. For information, a video preview and tickets go to www.seb.org

Sebastopol is going for a walk Sunday (3/25) at 9 a.m. This is to explore the hills of Sebastopol. Meet in the downtown plaza at 9 a.m. for a 4 mile walk through the hills. Suggested donation of $3. 823-3032 for more information.
