New nature preserve near Camp Meeker
The Sonoma Land Trust and Landpaths have teamed up to create a new nature preserve between Camp Meeker and Monte Rio and will take the public on hikes through it Feb. 12. The 554 acre Bohemia Ecological Preserve is adjacent to the famous, private Bohemian Grove. The creation of the preserve was made possible by a purchase of a conservation easement by the Land Trust and a donation of restricted land to Landpaths by Ted and Phyllis Swindells to manage it for resource protection and public use. Landpaths is leading the first public orientation hikes through the preserve on Sunday Feb. 12. One hike is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and another from 2 to 5 p.m. It is free but you have to register at www.landpaths.org.
