Chowder Day champ announced
For yet another year, Spud Point Crab Company has won the annual Chowder award at Bodega Bay. A whopping 900 people came out for the sellout event. The happy throngs went from place to place, tasting and voting on Feb 11.
The sun shone, the bay sparkled and 15 competitors gave it their all, including Alexander’s at Timbercove Inn, The Bluewater Bistro, The Boat House, Bodega Bay Firefighters Association, The Bodega Country Store, Brisas del Mar, The Casino Bar and Grill, The Duck Club, Island Style Deli, Pelican Plaza Grocery, Rocker Oysterfeller’s, The Sandpiper, Spud Point Crab Company, The Tides Wharf and The Union Hotel.
The event was designed to bring more people to the coast in the winter and to raise money for the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. This year’s Chowder Day surpassed all expectations on both scores. The fireworks fund is now some $4,000 richer. And the cooks at Spud Point Crab Company are waving their ladles in victory.
