A book from off the grid

Having  an arson-started wildfire burn everything you own, starting over again in your 60s and doing it off the grid in the wild California hills – that’s what is in Gretchen Butler’s book “Wild Plum Café.” Butler is an artist and former Bodega Bay resident, and the colorful memoir  is lavishly decorated with drawings and photographs.

She will launch the new publication at a reading and art show at Occidental Center for the Arts at 4 p.m. Sunday (2/19). The event is free (although donations are appreciated), and refreshments will be available. Butler will be there to sign copies of the book.  The center is at 4008 Bohemian Hwy. (Harmony Village).
