What’s In Store: Bill’s Farm Basket changes hands

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 | Posted by | 3 responses

Bill’s Farm Basket changed hands Oct. 17, and if you didn’t notice, there’s a good reason. Jim Bowen and Debbie Martinez, the former owners sold it to their long time employee David Diaz.

Diaz has worked there for seven years and plans to keep Bill’s the same with just one difference – his younger sister Kayla, who is interested in photography, will decorate the place with photos of Sonoma County’s beaches. It is becoming a family affair – Grandma Diaz makes the salsas and brother Anthony as well as Kayla works at the farm stand.

Bowen and Martinez have retained ownership of Pony Espresso Coffee Shop and are around to help Diaz. The hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Bill’s Farm Basket is located at 10315 Bodega Highway, between Sebastopol and Freestone, 829-1777.

  1. Its actually Grandma Hadley that makes the salsa. She has made it before and people know and love it. Grandma Diaz makes a good one also, maybe a salsa contest is in our near future. :)

  3. Haven’t been there in a long, long time but know how good Jimmy and Debbie were at their store; they took pride in it and it showed with the loyalty of their friends/customers. How neat an employee was able to buy it! Enjoy whatever you are up to now.
