Unique Plant Sale from the “Mother Garden”
Occidental Arts and Ecology Center is holding its annual Summer Biodiversity Plant Sale Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The non-profit which maintains the “Mother Garden” holds three plant sales a year, two in spring, one in the fall. The OAEC is located at 15229 Coleman Valley Road in Occidental , about a half mile out of downtown Occidental..
The Mother Garden has 3,000 varieties of heirloom, open-pollinated annuals and over 1,000 varieties of edible, medicinal and ornamental perennials. These are maintained with the help volunteers. OAEC offers tours and hands on classes all year.
On Saturday there will be two tours, one at 11 a.m. And one at 1 p.m. The sale and tours are free. To check the long list of varieties, some rare, others for specific climate zones, that will be for sale go to www.oaec.org.
