Recreational Salmon Season Ends
Labor Day, September 6th was the final day for salmon fishing by sports fishermen along the Bodega Bay coast.
The last days of the season ended, as they had begun in July, with uncooperative weather: wind and/or fog.
Charter boats, Miss Anita and the New Sea Angler, reported salmon being caught throughout the season, but not in great numbers.
Ten Mile Beach on the Point Reyes seashore was often a productive spot, particularly for rockfish and halibut.
This is the same area where four sports fishermen lost their lives in July when their boat capsized close to shore.
The rockfishing season remains open through October 31st and both charter boats continue to take bookings.
