Ruth McCaughey Burke Memorial Date Set
A memorial will be held on Thursday, July 29th from 3:00-5:00pm at McCaughey Hall for Bodega native Ruth McCaughey Burke.
Burke, who passed away in April at the age of 93, was born in the small town in 1916 and died at home there.
Her parents ran McCaughey Bros. General Store for years across the street from the Meeting Hall/Firehouse named for her family.
She attended Potter School (used in the film “The Birds”) from K-8th grades when it was a one room, one teacher school.
After graduating from Tomales High School, she took business courses and worked for many years, but her most loved occupation was completing a two-volume history of the town of Bodega.
The memorial is open to the public. Finger foods and soft drinks are welcome.
