Are You Up To It?

If you are up to a strenuous 5 mile hike up into the headlands above Jenner, then the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods have just the thing for you.

Saturday, July 24, the Jenner Headlands Forest Hike will go up 800 feet in elevation, including through forested areas, for great views of the Sonoma Coast below.

The hike will take place from 10:00am to 3:30pm.

This is a free hike, but you must register on-line ahead of time.  To do this, go to www.stewardsofthecoastandredwoods.org/calendarofevents.htm

The non-profit, volunteer group is warning that the path will be rough and uneven at times, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended, as are layers of clothes.

It is not a hike for the inexperienced.  The Stewards say that a “good guide to follow is, if you have not hiked five miles within the last month comfortably, this is not the hike for you.”

Another hike is to be offered in August that will be done at a slower pace and meant for those who are not used to difficult, uphill trekking.
